Food & Drinks – cascais
Cascais has an amazing collection of great restaurants with prices matching every pocket, a paradise for foodies!
Of course there are many fish and seafood restaurants but actually almost any world cuisine can be found in Cascais. Some restaurants are small cosy cafés in narrow streets whilst others offer superb views of the ocean and are located along the seafront serving gourmet dishes. The restaurants and bars listed below are the ones we like and like to go back!
We only listed our favorites, either because of the delicious food, pleasant service, great setting/decor/atmosphere and of course good value for money, so it’s definitely not a list of all the bars & restaurants in Cascais. In case you have any suggestions to add to the list please let us know!
For all restaurants listed it is definitely recommended you call to make a reservation, especially during Summer!

We especially love he terrace of this restaurant, one of the best locations for drinks with a view over the beautiful bay of Cascais.
Having dinner in the vintage blue decorated dining room is another reason to check out this restaurant right in the center of Cascais, as well as the “wine by the glass” system, giving you the opportunity to taste 48 of the finest wines in Portugal, just by ordering a sample glass. Michelin-starred chef Jose Avillez has recently opened his first restaurant in the center of Cascais, the town where he was born and grew up. The dishes served in his cozy Cantinho follow the success formula of the other Cantinhos in Lisbon and Porto and are based on contemporary Portuguese cuisine, influenced by his travels abroad,
The restaurant serves an excellent lunch menu. Make sure to try it out and leave some space for the famous Hazelnut dessert which is overly delicious!

Great spot for sunset drinks & bites. Nice, relaxed and professional service, good view to the beach – what else can you ask for?
This restaurant is situated in the historical center of Cascais, on Praia da Conceição.
Situated in the historic center, owned by a lovely Dutch couple: the decoration of the place with lots of wood and special designs (each piece of furniture comes with its own story!) feels so cozy.
The food is really delicious: a nice variety of original dishes (from fish to meat including several vegan dishes), all very fresh, spicy and well presented.
The friendliness of the staff, the superb food and the warm decor make this a place to go back for sure!
Largo da Misericordia 53 – Tel: +351 911 702 428
This beautifully decorated Dutch owned restaurant consists of two rooftop terraces where you can choose between several meze dishes, a buffet style vegetarian restaurant around the corner and a bakery. Truly a House of Wonders! All the food and drinks are home made and really tasty.
The rooftop terrace is a very cozy place with a laid-back atmosphere. Great spot for drinks at sunset.
The restaurant is also very special with its oriental flair and has a large terrace in front. They offer a buffet with a great selection of hot and cold salads mixed with delicious spices.
Make sure you try the desserts, they are out of this world!

The most fresh and tasteful sushi you can imagine! The friendly service, the creative and varied menu, we just fell in love with this tiny and cozy restaurant with outdoor terrace (which allows to sit outside even during winter as they installed heating). Sushi lovers should make sure to not miss this spot a bit off the beaten track… Make sure to call to reserve a table as the word is being spread…

The restaurant (from the same group as Bar do Guincho and Páteo do Petisco) is not easy to find, but once you get there is a very pleasant surprise, first of all because of the wonderful setting overlooking the ocean, through tennis courts.
The best way to go is to order several dishes and share, the food is tasty (especially the meat mmm) and comes at a reasonable price. We like the easy going atmosphere and great service.
